Invited to represent the U.S. at the 10th Anniversary of Les Misérables in London, Craig Schulman is the only actor in the world to have portrayed three of the greatest musical theatre roles: the Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom Of The Opera; Jean Valjean in Les Misérables; and the title roles in Jekyll & Hyde. He has portrayed Jean Valjean in four different companies in three countries for a total of nearly 2,000 performances. Widely recognized from the PBS broadcast of The 10th Anniversary: Les Misérables In Concert; he has also played Che in Evita, Tevye in Fiddler On The Roof, Archibald in The Secret Garden, and Father in Children Of Eden.
Schulman moves freely between the worlds of Broadway, opera and symphonic pops programs. He has appeared with many opera companies around the U.S., singing leading tenor roles in The Tales of Hoffmann, Tosca, Madame Butterfly, Carmen, Die Fledermaus, La Bohéme, La Traviata, The Crucible, and Manon. In 2003, he sang the title role in the world premiere of “Marco Polo In China” in Singapore in Mandarin Chinese!
Creator and producer of the internationally acclaimed BROADWAY NIGHTS™ concert series including “THREE PHANTOMS IN CONCERT”, Craig has appeared in concert programs with symphonies and at corporate events around the world. He also sings three solo shows: “Craig Schulman On Broadway”, “Heroes, Monsters & Madmen™” and “A Broadway Valentine”.
Craig currently maintains a Private Vocal Studio, teaches Acting at Sacred Heart University and has taught many Voice and Musical Theatre Master Classes. Rita Harvey made her Broadway debut performing the role of Christine Daae in The Phantom of the Opera after two years performing the role with the second national tour. She starred as Hodel in the recent Broadway revival of Fiddler On The Roof and as Lady Edith in the new Off-Broadway musical The Prince and the Pauper at the Lamb’s Theater.
Regional and stock productions include Laurey in Oklahoma!; Johanna in Sweeney Todd (both at Marriott’s Lincolnshire Theater); Julie Jordan in Carousel; Christine in Maury Yeston’s Phantom, Amalia in She Loves Me, Fiona in Brigadoon, Ann Collier in 1940′s Radio Hour, and Katrin in the play I Remember Mama.
In NYC Rita has performed in Mim; A Love Story (Mim), Come Dance With Me (Laura), and as Betsy in Musicals Tonight’s production of Dearest Enemy. Favorite opera roles include Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Rose in Street Scene, Laurie in The Tender Land, Marcelline in Fidelio, and Monica in The Medium.
She can be heard on many recordings including her own solo CD, Letting Go, and 100 Years of Broadway. Others include the original cast recordings of The Prince and the Pauper, Tim, and A Tale of Two Cities. Rita has performed as featured soloist in numerous industrial concerts across the country with stars such as Betty Buckley, Michael Crawford, Lillias White and Ben Vereen.
Gary Mauer was most recently seen on Broadway as the Phantom in the Hal Prince production of The Phantom of the Opera, a role he previously performed on the National tour. Previously he starred in the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera, performing the romantic leading role of Raoul. In addition, Mr. Mauer performed in the Broadway production of Les Misérables in the role of Enjolras, the revolutionary leader, a role he also performed with the National Tour in the US and Singapore. In addition, he performed the leading role of Gaylord Ravenal in the National Tour of Show Boat, opposite his wife, Elizabeth Southard. Mr. Mauer was also a featured soloist in the world tour of “The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber,” with Michael Crawford, bringing him to Japan, Australia, England, Scotland and culminating back in the US, where he performed for two weeks at the famous Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Regionally, his numerous credits include Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, Frederick in The Pirates of Penzance, Anthony in Sweeney Todd, Tony in West Side Story, Whizzer in March of the Falsettos and Danny in Baby. A graduate of the University of Arizona, Mr. Mauer has performed with symphony orchestras all over the world including the Brazil Symphony Orchestra in Rio de Janeiro, the Cleveland Orchestra, Chicago Symphony with Marvin Hamlisch, Colorado Symphony, Utah Symphony and Opera, Buffalo Philharmonic, Phoenix Symphony, San Diego Symphony, among many others.
