Hershey Symphony Salutes Those Who Serve

HERSHEY, PA - On Saturday, November 1, 2008, 8:00 p.m., Hershey Theatre, Caracas Avenue, Hershey, Pennsylvania, the Hershey Symphony Orchestra will continue its 2008-2009 season with an evening performance themed "A Tribute To Those Who Serve." Just in time for Veterans' day, the concert will feature a patriotic-themed repertoire. Special dignitaries and guests from our community will be participating in this special tribute.

"Our November 1st Tribute is one way that the Symphony would like to say "thank you" to those in our community who do so much for all of us. All those who serve, or have served in the military or as first response personnel are admitted to this concert free of charge," says HSO Executive Director Marsha Roscoe. "If you attend nothing else for Veterans' day, come out to this celebration where we salute all who give tirelessly of themselves for the sake of their country and communities."

The evening is filled with special guests and honorees. Major General Jessica L. Wright, Adjutant General, PA National Guard will give opening remarks for this concert. The Hershey Fire Department will make a special appearance with the Symphony's percussion section. Sgt. Steven L. Bord of the Lebanon City Police will be a guest vocalist during the Symphony's presentation of our National Anthem. Composer Nancy Boomer Deussen will be in the audience as the Symphony presents her composition of A Field in Pennsylvania, which was written in memory of Flight 93, September 11, 2001; and Brandon Cedel, a former Young Artist Competition winner of the HSO, will also take the stage.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens, $5 for students. Anyone attending the concert in uniform or whom shows proof of prior service (i.e., with a medal) will be admitted to this concert free of charge. Children 12 and younger will also be admitted free.

For more than 39 years, the Symphony has entertained music lovers throughout Central Pennsylvania.
